An independent higher-education research group will complete a study of the state’s College Opportunity Fund, which many public colleges and universities say is too complex and too meager to adequately fund higher education.
The College Opportunity Fund allocates $92 per credit hour for every eligible student who attends a public in-state college or university.
In addition, it gives schools extra “fee for service” money to provide graduate-school degrees on performance contracts with the Colorado Department of Education.
The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education, a national research group, will conduct a study on how well the fund is working.
