Metro residents who braved yesterday’s afternoon heat and were later refreshed by the twilight coolness will be relieved.
Today will also be steamy during the daytime – with a high near 97 degrees – and cooler by sunset, with an overnight low near 67.
The National Weather Service forecasts calm winds and partly cloudy skies, and a 20 percent chance of rain between 1 p.m. and midnight.
Friday may be a bit cooler and wetter, as the daytime high peaks at 91 degrees and the overnight low drops to 64. The chance of precipitation will climb to 30 percent, the Weather Service reports. Skies will stay partly cloudy and winds will blow consistently from the south-southeast between 8 and 11 mph.
The weather will change little over the weekend, as the chance of showers and thunderstorms hangs at 20 percent and skies stay partly cloudy. Saturday’s high will be 93 degrees, and Sunday’s high will be 94. The low will be in the mid 60s both nights.
Temperatures will dip slightly early next week. The Weather Service expects highs in the low 90s and lows in the mid 60s between Monday and Wednesday. A slight chance of rain will persist each day.
