Howard Dean, the Democratic Party chairman, said after a tour of Invesco Field at Mile High this morning that he thought the venue would be a “terrific” venue for Barack Obama’s acceptance speech.
In fact, Dean said, the stadium was so “spectacular” it made him want to be a Broncos fan.
Obama is to make his historic speech on the final night of the Democratic National Convention, which runs Aug. 25-28.
Because Invesco can seat delegates on the field, Dean said he expected 80,000 to attend, the vast majority of them members of the public.
“This is not an insiders’ convention,” Dean said. “This is an outsiders’ convention.”
Dean was joined by Federico Peña, a national co-chair of Obama’s campaign, four Colorado delegates to the convention, and Democratic National Convention Committee chief executive Leah Daughtry.
