DENVER—Republican presidential candidate John McCain is praising Hispanic military veterans for their sacrifice and he says they often don’t get the credit they deserve.
In a speech to veterans in Denver, McCain told Hispanic veterans they risked their lives like other soldiers, even though many Hispanic soldiers fighting overseas don’t have the rights and privileges that other U.S. soldiers share.
McCain says he prefers to live in an America that is as proud of its variety as it is of the ideals that unite Americans.
After the speech, McCain was flying to Aspen, where he will meet with the Dalai Lama.
