The Denver District Attorney’s Office and Denver Police are investigating the death of a man who died Friday after a struggle with officers.
According to a statement released Friday night by police spokesman Sonny Jackson, at 1:49 p.m. officers responded to an open 911 call involving a possible argument in the 2200 block of South Lindley Court.
When police arrived, an officer saw a male who appeared to flag him down. But, Jackson said, when police tried to contact the unidentified man he ran away.
The man appeared to be bleeding from unknown injuries.
Jackson said that when officers neared the man, he became combative. The officers struggled with the subject until they were able get him under control.
Paramedics arrived to treat the man and then transported him to Porter Adventist Hospital where he later died.
The Office of the Independent Monitor will monitor the investigation.
