A 46-year-old Longmont man has been identified as the victim of a fatal car crash in rural Weld County, authorities say.
Larry Brunner was pronounced dead at the scene late Friday afternoon after he ran a stop sign and was struck by a pickup truck, said Gilbert Mares, spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.
Drug or alcohol use may have been a factor in the accident, Mares said.
Brunner was driving a white 1990 Mazda west on Weld County Road 38 about 4 p.m. when he ran a stop sign and collided with a black 2000 Dodge pickup truck going south on Weld County Road 17, he said.
The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, which ended up lying on its top after hitting a telephone pole, was David Reed, 69, of Johnstown, Mares said. Reed had minor to moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The accident is still under investigation.
