GOLDEN — A deadline for Jefferson County School Board member Vince Chowdhury to respond to a request that he immediately resign passed with no word from him.
The board had asked Chowdhury in a July 9 letter to give a written response no later than Friday. The letter stated that Chowdhury’s continued service would not be in the best interest of students, staff and community.
Chowdhury pleaded guilty on July 9 to misdemeanor assault for slapping his teenage daughter when he thought she was being disrespectful.
A school district spokeswoman said the board will decide what action to take at its next meeting on Aug. 21, or call a special meeting.
