Colorado universities ranked higher for booze and pot than teaching and learning in the 2009 Princeton Review of Colleges released Monday.

The University of Colorado’s Boulder campus ranked third in the nation for marijuana use, 13th as a party school and 14th for drinking hard liquor. The annual ranking puts Boulder at 16th for being “a great college town.”

In 2003, CU was Princeton Review’s top party school, but it has slipped each year since.

Colorado College came in at No. 7 for marijuana use. The Colorado Springs private school was ninth for intramural sports, 13th for “Birkenstock-wearing, tree-hugging, clove-smoking vegetarians” and 14th for class discussions.

Colorado State University placed seventh for lecture time in class.

The U.S. Air Force Academy north of Colorado Springs was No. 4 for pot avoidance, fourth for “future Rotarians,” seventh for overall sobriety, 10th for bad food and 13th for intramural sports.
