GOP presidential candidate John McCain is returning to Denver today, marking his second visit here in less than a week.
After holding a town-hall meeting in Nevada, McCain will fly to Denver, landing around 6:25 p.m. From there, he will drive to Englewood, where he is expected to attend a campaign fundraiser at the home of multimillionaire investor Charlie Gallagher.
McCain, an Arizona senator, is also holding a Denver campaign event at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The location of the event and its format had not been determined Monday, according to the McCain campaign.
A recent Quinnipiac University poll showed McCain ahead of Democrat Barack Obama in Colorado by 2 percentage points. A month ago, Obama led McCain by 5 percentage points.
Obama, who is expected to officially be picked as the Democratic nominee next month in Denver, has raised twice as much money in Colorado — $2.9 million — as McCain.
