Valdosta is TitleTown USA. At least according to ESPN, which on Monday selected the Georgia city of about 50,000 as the nation’s top sports city. Valdosta has won dozens of sports championships and is a hub for high school football. Georgia Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, who was on hand for the announcement, said: “Not to take anything away from any other community, but certainly Valdosta is truly legendary — particularly in high school football.” There was no truth to rumors the announcement sparked riots in Detroit, Chicago, New York, Boston or Green Bay, Wis.
