Getting your player ready...

While fishing and fashion aren’t always analogous, the cutting-edge designs from Summit County-based Fishpond somehow manage to merge function and style in a way that works well and looks good doing it.

Case in point: the Westwater Boat Bag (MSRP: $129) that combines colorful and durable Diamondtech nylon fabric with a bomber PVC bottom to keep the elements out. The waterproofing extends to the inside, where an internal PVC liner is padded out with Velcro dividers and sealed with oversized industrial zippers. Two tippet spool accessory cords, accent webbing lash points and a pair of exterior pockets add some space to the 854-cubic-inch bag. Fishpond’s outside-the-bag thinking carries throughout its line of angling and adventure-travel accessories, even extending to a design-driven website that’s worth a visit just to sample the outdoor images from local photographer John Land Le Coq.
