DENVER—A woman who was arrested while holding a protest sign outside a Denver appearance by GOP presidential candidate John McCain has pleaded not guilty.

Carol Kreck was removed from the Denver Performing Arts Complex on July 7 and cited for trespassing. She had a sign saying “McCain Bush.”

Kreck said Wednesday she wants her day in court to find out who ordered her removal.

Videotape of the incident shows a security guard telling Kreck the Secret Service had asked for her to be removed.

A spokeswoman for the performing arts center said the guard was mistaken, and that he was enforcing building rules, not acting at the request of the Secret Service.

The center is city-owned rental property but not legally defined as public property.
