Denver temperatures reached a high of 96 degrees today as the excitement of breaking the all-time heat streak evaporated and the dog days of summer kept on yapping.
On Wednesday, we tied a 134-year record for consecutive days in the 90s, with 18. Today, number 19, enters the history books as the new sweatiest summer run.
Tomorrow the clambake really gets cooking, with a high of 102, followed by another century-plus day on Saturday, around 101.
Sunday’s high will park near 99 degrees and Monday will only mellow to about 95, the Weather Service says.
By Tuesday, we could see a mere 91, and by Wednesday the streak may wrap up, with a forecast high near 87.
That would be a 24-day streak, if you can bear to count it.
One that no one would be itching to break, come next July.
