CANTON, OhioFLAGSTAFF, Ariz.WESTMINSTER, Md. — Rookie quarterback Colt Brennan threw two touchdown passes in the second half for Washington, and Matterral Richardson returned an interception 38 yards for a touchdown Sunday to rally the Redskins for a 30-16 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the Hall of Fame Game.
It gave Jim Zorn a win in his head coaching debut.
The Colts played without seven starters, including injured two-time league MVP Peyton Manning.
Fitzgerald is geared up
A new four-year, $40 million contract from the Cardinals — with $30 million guaranteed — seems to have added to Larry Fitzgerald’s motivation.
“I think he’s actually more committed to prove that he is worth it,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “And that’s a good thing. I think he embraces the role of trying to be one of the best receivers in the game.”
Fitzgerald is in his fifth season in the NFL, but he’s just 24 years old. Already, he has 330 receptions, 4,544 yards receiving and two Pro Bowl appearances. Last season, he led the NFC in receptions (100) and yards receiving (1,409), and tied his career high with 10 touchdowns.
McGahee questionable
Ravens running back Willis McGahee might miss Thursday’s game against the Patriots because of an ailing left knee.
If McGahee is unable to play, rookie Ray Rice could get the start in his NFL debut.
Tight end Todd Heap also missed practice Sunday with a right calf injury, which is not believed to be serious.
Footnotes.
The Packers announced the signing of Ryan Grant, a day after the running back and team agreed to a four-year deal worth up to $30 million.
• Receiver Plaxico Burress did some light running for the first time since the Giants opened camp more than a week ago.
