A chef from Vail competed at a national seafood cook-off this past weekend in New Orleans.

Paul Anders, executive chef at Sweet Basil in Vail, finished in the top five overall at the Fifth Annual Great American Seafood Cook-off.

Over two days, 14 chefs from different states faced off with their culinary talents.

The competitors used seafood from their respective states to create gastronomical masterpieces.

“There were a lot of amazing chefs here,” Anders said. “The competition was stiff, but I had a great time representing Colorado.”
