GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Jury selection got under way Monday in the murder trial of a Mesa County man accused of killing his 23-month-old stepson.
Twenty-two-year-old Brandon Scott Moore is charged with first-degree murder in the July 2007 death of Logan Accord. The Clifton boy died two days shy of his second birthday.
Moore had said the boy fell in a bathtub, but a doctor said Logan suffered severe hemorrhaging that was not consistent with such a fall.
An arrest affidavit said the child’s injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome.
A judge ruled last month that Moore’s relatives can sit in on the trial.
Some relatives, and Moore’s ex-wife, are scheduled to testify, and trial witnesses are usually barred from listening to each other’s testimony.
