DENVER—Colorado residents are getting a chance to have their say about a proposed expansion of uranium mining operations in San Miguel County.
The Bureau of Land Management is accepting public comments about the proposed mining activities through Sept. 8 at its offices in Durango and Dolores.
Denison Mines wants to expand its existing Topaz Mine and do exploratory drilling at its underground mining complex in the Gypsum Valley southwest of Naturita. The complex is part of the Uravan Mineral Belt which was the country’s leading producer of uranium in the 1900s.
