On this day in 1878, temperatures in Denver soared to a blazing 105 degrees, the Weather Channel reports. Today, residents need not fret.
Temps in the metro area were a balmy 63 degrees this morning, on their way up to 82. Skies are gray and overcast, betraying forecaster’s call for heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms.
If you passed through the city’s parks or residential neighborhoods this morning, you probably noticed that all the recent rain has had a revitalizing effect on local lawns.
However, what’s good for the grass isn’t always good for weekend plans.
Fortunately, the rain will subside Saturday and Sunday, the National Weather Service says. Intervals of sunshine will punctuate cloudy skies, and isolated thunderstorms are expected in the afternoons.
The chance of precipitation will decline from 40 percent today, to 20 percent throughout the weekend.
Weekend highs will be 89 and 90 degrees, Saturday and Sunday respectively.
The forecast for early next week is warm and cloudy. The Weather Service predicts highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s through Wednesday.
Overnight lows between now and Tuesday night will be in the lower 60s, the Weather Service reports.
