The Boston Cannons outscored the visiting Denver Outlaws 7-3 in the third period and went on to a 20-14 Major League Lacrosse victory before 8,425 fans at Harvard Stadium.
Leading 9-6 at halftime, Boston started off the third quarter with a 4-0 run on two unassisted goals from Mike Powell. The Outlaws’ only tallies in the period were an unassisted goal from Brendan Mundorf and an unassisted power-play 2-pointer from Jeff Sonke. Mundorf finished with four points on three goals and an assist. Brian Langtry had two goals and an assist, and Ryan Powell had three assists. Goalie Jesse Schwartzman was pulled in the 53rd minute after giving up 19 goals on 41 shots.

Meagan and Brenna Malcolm-Peck, twin 6-foot-2 guards at Horizon High School, have committed to play basketball at the University of Colorado.
CSU sells out student tickets for CU game.
Colorado State has sold out its allotment of student tickets for the Aug. 31 opener against in-state rival Colorado, and the school is urging students to buy regular reserve seats to show their support for new head coach Steve Fairchild in his debut. The 80th meeting between the two teams will be at Invesco Field at Mile High, kicking off at 5:30 p.m. and broadcast nationally on Fox Sports Net.
