GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Texas man is in custody in Grand Junction after police say he nearly ran down a paramedic with his pickup truck.
Officers arrested 20-year-old Dylan Hauck shortly after the incident at about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities say a witness called police after seeing the man passed out in the truck at an intersection around 6 a.m. The witness and a passing jogger tried to take the keys from the driver, but he awoke, took the keys back and drove away.
Police say a responding paramedic had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. The truck then scraped a fire department vehicle before the pickup driver collided with a stop sign and fled on foot.
Officers located Hauck a short time later in a yard.
