Getting your player ready...

A year ago, the Cowboys physically dominated the Broncos in their preseason game at Dallas. The Broncos got so frustrated, some vented afterward that the ‘Boys had broken unwritten NFL rules by blitzing too much for a relatively meaningless exhibition.

A year later, not much has changed. The Cowboys arrived at Dove Valley Wednesday with a larger profile, higher aspirations and bigger people than the Broncos. Numbers? You want numbers? Try these on for size XXXXL:

The Cowboys’ roster includes 21 players who strain the scales at 300-plus pounds. The Broncos? They have 11. Of those 21 Cowboys who go three bills, three are Pro Bowlers — offensive linemen Andre Gurode, Flozell Adams and Leonard Davis.

The size difference was apparent during the blocking drills as the Cowboys generally got the better of things in matters of mano a mano.

Even Rod Smith, who stopped by to say hello to his old coach, Wade Phillips, noticed the size difference between the two teams.

“That’s the way they draft down there,” said Smith. “They say everything is big in Texas. Those dudes are pretty big.”

The Cowboys aren’t just bigger than the Broncos. One look at the NFL standings tells you they’re better, too. Dallas finished 13-3 last season, Denver 7-9.
