VAIL, Colo.—The Eagle County Sheriff’s office says a spa fire in the Vail area that injured one person and closed two highways was “caused by human intervention.”
The structure fire produced thick smoke Wednesday and temporarily closed Interstate 70 and eastbound U.S. 6. The sheriff’s office is asking people with information about the fire to come forward.
The fire was reported shortly before 1 p.m. at the Maximum Comfort Pool and Spa.
The sheriff’s office says the fire broke out on the southeast corner of the building and spread to two vehicles parked nearby.
One person was taken to Vail Valley Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.
