Let’s face facts:

Mindful as we are that beauty isn’t skin deep, the face is an amazing canvas, and with a stroke of this and a dusting of that, well, miracles can happen.

Which is what the members of CultureHaus discovered at its summer fundraiser, The Face as Art: Find Your Bourne Identity. John Bourne, a national makeup artist for Laura Mercier cosmetics, spent the evening with members and friends of this Denver Art Museum support group, reviewing their current makeup techniques and offering suggestions for making themselves look even better.

The cocktails-and-hors d’oeuvres fete was held at Walker Fine Art and presented in cooperation with Nordstrom Cherry Creek.

As co-chair Donna Crafton noted: “Art is found in many places, and we often forget that professionals in the hair and cosmetic industries are artists too. It’s a specialized craft that they have developed and it’s a privilege to experience and learn about fall cosmetic trends from such a high-level artist as John.”

The Face as Art was a particular bargain in that the first 50 to pay the $35 admission fee ($40 for non-CultureHaus members) were given a goodie bag overflowing with deluxe Laura Mercier samples and gifts from event sponsors Brazilets, Delish Demure, Stems, Drs. Gary Radz and Nicolette Picerno, and Wynstone Teas.

And there’s more

Co-chairs Monica Owens and Brandis Becky Pelletier say the fun begins at 6 p.m. and that tickets for the Oct. 25 event starring country sensation Dierks Bentley will be on sale.
