Three schools were put on a lockdown, and a reverse 911 call was sent out to residents living near the Douglas County Justice Center this morning after a teenager ran out of the courthouse.
He was captured about three hours later, and no one was injured, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The 17-year-old Denver boy was going into court at about 9:30 this morning in Castle Rock on a theft case. He wore a green uniform and had shackles on his ankles.
After a deputy brought him in, he took off out the back door and ran across the highway.
Law enforcement searched the area south of the Wal-Mart on Front Street and brought in police dogs.
The teen was caught in that area at about 12:30 p.m., the release said. His uniform and shackles were found in a storm drain.
