COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—Detectives in Commerce City have closed their investigation into the drowning of a 15-year-old girl, saying her death was an accident.

Authorities say the girl had been swimming with friends at the Commerce City Recreation Center on July 25. She was in the deep end of the facility’s pool when she went under water.

Police say the victim’s friends called for help from lifeguards when she didn’t come up right away.

Lifeguards pulled her from the water and performed CPR. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Her name has not been released.
