DENVER—A University of Colorado graduate student who served in the Iraq war will meet with Barack Obama before the senator accepts Democrats’ nomination for president at Invesco Field at Mile High stadium.
The campaign says John Volkmar of Boulder responded to an e-mail asking Obama supporters to write essays on why they support the candidate. Volkmar said he hopes to help America develop a secure energy future.
Volkmar has completed two Iraq tours.
The campaign says Volkmar and nine others from across the country were selected to meet backstage with Obama. Each is allowed to bring one guest.
Others selected include a retired teacher from Florida and a veteran from Virginia.
The Democratic National Convention is Aug. 25-28 in Denver.
