
Add Moby, Dave Navarro, the Silversun Pickups, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, the Cold War Kids and Nada Surf to the list of rockers who will be performing public concerts during Democratic National Convention week in Denver.

Indie-rock faves the Silversun Pickups, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, the Cold War Kids and Nada Surf will be performing at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Manifest Hope Gallery, 2990 Larimer St., at an event hosted by . and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. The program has been dubbed “Unconventional ’08.”
The bands will perform on an outdoor stage. Tickets are free, and a limited number will be available by visiting Manifest Hope Gallery.
Additionally, Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie), Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley), Zooey Deschanel (She and Him), Matthew Caws (Nada Surf) and Jonathan Rice will be performing together in a private VIP “rounds” performance as part of the Manifest Hope Gallery party.
The Manifest Hope Gallery will showcase both known and new contemporary artists, including painters, sculptors and street artists, as well as newly commissioned works and previous works on loan from some of the top U.S. artists.
In addition to the professional artists, five artists selected from a MoveOn sponsored art contest will show their work for the first time at Manifest Hope. These five pieces will be chosen by a panel of judges, including famed artists Ross Bleckner, April Gornik, Eric Fischl and Shepard Fairey; musicians Moby, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth; DJ Spooky; Cydney Payton, executive director and chief curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver; and Nancy Spector, author and Guggenheim Curator of Contemporary Art.
The work of the five finalists selected to show in the Manifest Hope Gallery will hang alongside well-known artists such as Fairey, Sam Flores, Ron English, Chris Pastras, Mel Kadel and the Date Farmers.
The gallery is open to the public from Sunday, Aug. 24, through Thursday, Aug. 28.
