FORT COLLINS — CSU coach Steve Fairchild finally has a good idea who will line up with the starting units for the Aug. 31 opener against Colorado.
He’s just keeping it to himself and his staff until Monday. Just in case there are changes, the Rams have a scrimmage today (closed to public and media) and a mock game Saturday. Fairchild said the stadium scrimmage also will also serve as a dry run for coaching assignments on the bench and in the press box.
The plan is for offensive coordinator Greg Peterson and running backs coach Anthoney Hill to go upstairs for the offense. Defensive assignments are to be determined.
Footnotes.
All unsold tickets for the opener by Monday will be turned over to TicketMaster. CSU’s 10,000 student tickets are gone and about 11,000 of CSU remaining 20,000 have been sold. The offensive line had an unplanned adjustment when tackle Mark Starr had a possible concussion. Dane Stratton moved up to the first unit. Fairchild said he expects cornerback Nick Oppenneer (ankle) back for the opener.
