CHARLESTON, W.Va.—West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin is getting a prime-time speaking spot during next week’s Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Manchin is chairman of the Democratic Governors Association. He is scheduled to speak Tuesday.

The convention committee and presumed Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama’s campaign also announced that the governors of Montana, Massachusetts, Kansas, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Iowa will be speaking Tuesday.

Next Wednesday’s featured speakers include New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson. Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter will speak next Thursday, the convention’s closing night.
