Sen. John McCain’s office in Centennial has been evacuated after an envelope containing an unidentified powder and a threat against the GOP hopeful was found there.
“At approximately 3 p.m. a staff member in the McCain campaign Denver office opened and envelope that contained a threatening letter and an amount of unknown powder,” said Jeff Sadosky, a spokesman at the McCain campaign’s national headquarters in Virginia.
“The campaign immediately notified local and federal law enforcement authorities, evacuated the office and our staff is taking all necessary precautions and is being looked at by health care professionals.”
Sadosky did not have any word on the condition of the employees.
He estimated that somewhere between five and 10 people were in the office at the time.
