GOLDEN — The Jefferson County Board of Education has set a timetable for filling the vacancy created Thursday by the resignation of member Vince Chowdhury.
The position will be posted Friday. The process, which must be completed within 60 days, includes interviews on Sept. 18 with an appointment by the other four board members as soon as Oct. 2.
Chowdhury pleaded guilty July 9 to misdemeanor assault for a June 17 incident in which he slapped his teenage daughter.
Since Chowdhury was an independently elected official, the school board asked him to resign since it could not remove him. District officials urged him to resign and a recall effort was being assembled.
