A man who stabbed his ex-wife more than 60 times on Christmas Eve 2006 has been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.
The victim, Natisha Gallegos, was the mother of three children and had a restraining order against her former husband, Albert Gallegos, 33.
Natisha Gallegos was found dead by her sister.
Albert Gallegos fled the state in a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am and was arrested in Los Angeles.
Albert Gallegos pleaded guilty on Friday to first-degree murder.
Adams County District Attorney Don Quick said the homicide was “particularly brutal and senseless.”
“Although (the sentencing) will be no means bring an end to the suffering Mrs. Gallegos’ family has endured as a result of this terrible tragedy, hopefully they can now begin the process of healing,” said Quick.
Albert Gallegos was sentenced by District Judge Thomas Ensor immediately following his plea.
