DETROIT—A judge on Monday left the terms of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s bail on assault charges in effect at least through the middle of the week, making it unlikely the mayor can attend this week’s Democratic National Convention.

Kilpatrick’s travel is restricted to the Detroit area as a condition of his release on bail.

His attorneys had been expected to ask that the travel restriction be lifted at a bail hearing that was scheduled for Monday afternoon.

However, his legal team appeared in court with no request.

Wayne County Circuit Judge David Groner told defense lawyer Juan Mateo that if he wants to raise the issue again he has to give the court and the prosecutor 48 hours notice.

The mayor faces 10 felony counts in separate assault and perjury cases.
