ST. PAUL, Minn.—Workers are putting security barriers around the Ramsey County law enforcement complex, where protesters would be held if they’re arrested during the Republican National Convention.

Sheriff Bob Fletcher says area will be surrounded by a 3-foot-tall concrete barrier topped by a 6-foot-tall fence.

The barrier was partially complete on Tuesday.

Fletcher says protesters arrested for misdemeanors will be processed in the first floor of the county’s Emergency Communications Center. The building is next to the jail and has been turned into a temporary holding facility.

Fletcher expects anywhere from 600 to 1,800 arrests during the convention.

People arrested on feloniey or gross misdemeanor chargess will be booked into the jail.
