Gunfire in northwest Denver tonight left one man injured and another on the run from police.

The shooting happened at 6:20 p.m. in a home at 3333 West 36th Ave.

A victim, who was not identified, was wounded several times and was taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital.

Nearly five hours after the shooting, police staked out the area in the Highland neighborhood in force.

At least 10 patrol cruisers blocked off streets and alleys, and a crime scene van parked in the middle of the block. Forensic workers moved back and forth between the step van and the home.

Three blocks away at nearly 11:30 p.m. a patrol officer walked the street shining a flashlight inside and underneath parked cars.

The shooter is described as a white or Hispanic and in his early to late 20s. He is about five feet, 11 inches tall with a medium build. He has dark medium-length hair and a dark mustache and goatee, police said.

He was last seen running north from the home.

Anyone with information can call 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
