DENVER—A Grand Junction man has filed a complaint against a Denver police officer who allegedly put two John McCain stickers on his patrol motorcycle.

Thirty-two-year-old Warren Jones says the officer became belligerent when he asked about the stickers and refused to identify himself.

Denver police spokesman Lt. Ron Saunier says placing a political sticker on a city-owned vehicle would be a violation of police policy. He says the officer is allowed to express his political views on his personal vehicle, but not on city property.

The officer’s name has not been released.

Jones says he received a call from a sergeant with the Denver Police Department’s Internal Affairs division, apologizing for the incident and promising to deal with the matter.
