You know him, you love him. Well, maybe you know him. Jay Mariotti was, for years, the sports columnist readers loved to hate. Turns out, many of his colleagues at the Chicago Sun-Times, where he worked for 17 years, might have hated him as much. Maybe more. They have lined up to get their licks in since Mariotti announced his resignation from Chicago’s second-largest daily last week. “We wish Jay well and will miss him — not personally, of course — but in the sense of noticing he is no longer here, at least for a few days,” Sun-Times editor Michael Cooke said.
