GOLDEN — The former treasurer of the Golden High School Quarterback Club was sentenced Tuesday to 20 days in jail and three years of probation for stealing money from the club.

Kelli Marie Hilborne, 40, pleaded guilty in June to felony theft for stealing more than $8,000 from the club between January and July 2007.

The money was raised by students and parents through selling candy or coupon books.

At the sentencing, Hilborne said she had repaid $6,860 of the stolen money and intends to repay the remainder.

Hilborne must turn herself in to the Jefferson County jail by Sept. 25. She has moved to the Western Slope, where she will be allowed to serve her probation.

Hilborne’s husband, William, 43, also was charged with felony theft and conspiracy to commit theft in connection with the club money. His trial is set for Sept. 30.
