GOLDEN, Colo.—A woman accused of burglarizing homes and stealing from home mailboxes in Jefferson County has pleaded guilty to burglary.
Nineteen-year-old Sophie Rose Shafer of Pine entered her plea Tuesday. She faces four to 12 years in prison at a sentencing hearing Sept. 29.
She and her 27-year-old boyfriend Michael John Pantera of Denver were accused of driving to mailboxes, taking mail, looking for cash or gift cards, and then tossing the rest of the mail on the road last year.
Prosecutors say investigators also linked them to burglaries.
Pantera is due for trial Jan. 13 on charges of second-degree burglary, felony theft, criminal mischief, criminal trespass and false information to a pawnbroker.
