The Colorado Mammoth got busy Thursday in preparation for this weekend’s National Lacrosse League draft, trading up to the first round, the team said.
The Mammoth traded two second-round choices (15th and 20th overall) to Calgary in exchange for the No. 7 overall pick in Sunday’s entry draft.
“The last time we selected seventh overall, we landed a perennial all-star in Dan Carey,” Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. “We think this move could get us a young talent that will help the franchise not only this season, but in the long run.”
The Mammoth also re-signed second-year player Dylan Llord and signed free-agent forward Gary Rosyski, who played last season with San Jose.
“Gary is among the 500-point club, and not many in NLL history can say that,” Govett said. “He consistently generates offense, and we expect more of that when he puts on the Mammoth uniform.”
Llord was the Mammoth’s second pick in the 2007 draft (30th overall). He played in three games last season, tallying three goals and two assists. “Although he didn’t get much playing time last season, we think Dylan has great potential and a knack for scoring,” Govett said.
