DENVER—Astros starter Wandy Rodriguez left the game in the second inning Sunday against Colorado because of a right oblique strain.
Houston would use five other pitchers in a 7-5 win over the Rockies.
Rodriguez was lifted for pinch hitter Brandon Backe with two outs and a runner on third in the top of the second. Backe struck out to end the inning.
Rodriguez allowed a leadoff single to Clint Barmes in the first before striking out the side, throwing 18 pitches.
Jack Cassel replaced Rodriguez.
After his scoreless inning, Rodriguez was 8-6 with a 3.73 ERA.
