Re: Congratulations

A hearty congratulations to our popular columnist John Broening, who last weekend married pastry guru Yasmin Lozada-Hissom. The Boulder ceremony was followed by a boisterous dinner at The Kitchen Upstairs, a five-course meal that included lobster with sweet corn and new potatoes, pork loin with peaches and polenta, and, of course, cake. Chocolate.

Re: Margarita

Got a decent margarita recipe?

Erica, via voicemail

Yes. We ran the following recipe, described as “irresponsibly alcoholic” by one staffer, in 2006.

Classic Margarita

Makes 1 drink.

Ingredients

2    ounces tequila

1    ounce Cointreau

     Juice of 1 lime

     About 1/2 teaspoon powdered sugar.

     Lime rounds for garnish.

Directions

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all ingredients, and shake for 30 seconds. Set aside. Place a lime round into the base of a salt-rimmed glass. Shake the margarita 15 seconds more, then strain into a glass. Serve immediately.
