GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Hotchkiss man is dead after a piece of heavy construction equipment he was operating rolled down an embankment and pinned him underneath.
Gunnison County Undersheriff Rick Besecker says 26-year-old Nolan Lawrence Allen was driving a large piece of equipment made by Caterpillar when it rolled over on Monday.
Allen was working in the Bear Ranch Development near Somerset at the time.
Besecker says no one saw the accident, but that Allen apparently died instantly.
An investigation is under way.
Authorities say alcohol, drugs and careless behavior are not considered factors in the accident.
