Second-year Colorado State men’s basketball coach Tim Miles signed a one-year contract extension Wednesday, Rams athletic director Paul Kowalczyk said.
In his first season at CSU’s helm, Miles led the Rams to a 7-25 record overall. They were 0-16 in Mountain West Conference play and went on to a second-round loss in the MWC tournament.
Miles is now under contract with CSU through the 2012-13 season.
“Today’s announcement shows a commitment to Tim and his staff,” Kowalczyk said. “It’s easy to reward someone after a successful season. But last year, Tim showed amazing strength and character in the face of really difficult circumstances, most of which were out of his control.”
The Rams last season returned just one starter and 10 rookie players got court time. This season, they return Marcus Walker, who led the MWC in scoring last season (17.1 points per game).
“Our entire staff is dedicated to the effort of rebuilding this program,” Miles said, “and we are confident that Rams fans will be proud of the achievements by our team.”
