Saturday. “Movement” takes on a different meaning for the Colorado Springs Philharmonic on Saturday. The orchestra’s “Cirque de la Symphonie” concert transforms the usual orchestra experience into a high-flying live circus performance. Aerialists, acrobats and contortionists will take the stage while the Philharmonic swoops through pieces by Dmitri Shostakovich, Johannes Brahms, Georges Bizet, John Williams and more. 8 p.m. Pikes Peak Center, 190 S. Saturday. David Hasselhoff notwithstanding, the TV show “Knight Rider” was indisputably cool to kids in the ’80s. NBC is trying to recapture the cool this fall with a new “Knight Rider,” introducing the talking-sports-car concept to a new generation. On Saturday, fans old and new can visit the Forney Transportation Museum for a special “Knight Rider” day. See replicas of the original “KITT” car, and check out the new Ford Mustang version. Today-Saturday. The small, quiet town of Evans is ready to rock this weekend. Evansfest starts tonight with a community picnic, live music and fireworks as a warm-up. On Saturday, the town celebrates all things Evans, beginning with a parade at 10 a.m. The fun continues all day with games, food, live entertainment and the hilarious NasCan races: Custom go-karts, topped with drivers on toilets, zoom around a baseball diamond. 5-9 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Saturday-Sunday. In certain circles, he goes by only one name: Thomas. Thomas the Tank Engine is a longtime hit with the preschool set, and this month he’ll be visiting the Colorado Railroad Museum. The highlight of a “Day Out With Thomas” is a train ride pulled by big, blue Thomas himself. Departures are every 45 minutes between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. — passengers can select their time when purchasing tickets. Before and after the big ride, future engineers can participate in craft activities, listen to stories and visit with Sir Topham Hatt, the Controller of the Railroads, from the Thomas series. Thomas will be back at the Railroad Museum Sept. 20-21 and again Sept. 27-28. It’s a popular event, so get tickets early. 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Monday. A traditional sign that fall has arrived, the harvest moon is the full moon that rises nearest to the autumnal equinox.
