Xcel Energy filed with the Colorado Utilities Commission to lower electricity bills for the quarter through December, the company announced Thursday.
Lower current and projected fuel costs, primarily natural gas, means a decrease of $109 million in the costs collected through the electric commodity adjustment rider.
Typical residential customer bills would decrease to $61.18 a month, based on use of 625 kilowatt-hours, a decrease of $10.29 per month from the current cost of $71.47. Bills would still be higher than last year, when the typical bill was $57.04 per month.
