LARAMIE — Career firsts are better when the game is on the line.
Wyoming beat North Dakota State 16-13 as Jake Scott kicked his first career game-winner with a 29-yard field goal on the heals of Cowboys free safety Derrick McMahen’s first career interception.
The Bison tried a multilateral kick return as time expired, but Wyoming running back Darius Terry ended the game by recovering a fumble on the NDSU 7-yard line.
The Cowboys scored all 16 points in the second half after trailing the Bison 10-0 at halftime.
The score was 13-0 before Wyoming got on the scoreboard. A 44-yard burst by Devin Moore to the Bison 10-yard line set up Moore’s 2-yard touchdown.
Wyoming tied the game with 10:28 left in the game on Scott’s second consecutive 28-yard field goal.
