1:30 p.m. Saturday
For the record: Houston 1-2, 0-0 C-USA. CSU 1-1, 0-0 MWC.
Streaking: Senior WR Mark Hafner caught his fourth touchdown pass of the year against Air Force. It was his third straight game with at least one TD reception.
Who’s hot: Sophomore QB Case Keenum has thrown at least 30 passes in the last two games and has four straight games with at least 300 yards passing.
Who’s not: Air Force has a way of making rush defenses look bad, and the Falcons had their way with the Cougars, gaining 380 yards on the ground.
Key stat: Keenum put up 57 passes with just one interception, completing 34 for 362 yards and four TDs. With its young cornerbacks, CSU is susceptible in the passing game.
FYI: Air Force returned home from the Saturday morning game in Dallas before Houston did. The Cougars were hoping to return to their hurricane-stricken home Sunday. . . . Houston first-year defensive coordinator John Skladany coached CSU’s defensive line and special teams from 1993-95. First-time head coach Kevin Sumlin was receivers coach at Wyoming in 1991 and 1992.
Coachspeak: “Nobody should be better at adapting and changing on the run than coaches or athletes. . . . As I told the team after today, we could let this affect us for the rest of the year or we could let this bring us closer together as a team.” — Houston coach Kevin Sumlin, on the disruption forced by Hurricane Ike and the 31-28 loss to Air Force
