LOUDON, N.H. — John McCain on Sunday visited the battleground state of New Hampshire to attend a NASCAR race.
“Thank you for your support for the men and women in the military,” McCain, accompanied by NASCAR legend Richard Petty, told a meeting of race drivers. “When I’m in Iraq and Afghanistan, they’re watching you. You are their role model.”
The Republican presidential nominee left just after the drivers started their engines but before they started racing.
McCain is bolstering his Southern outreach today with a rally in Jacksonville, Fla., another pivotal electoral state.
Democratic nominee Barack Obama spent Sunday off the trail and at home in Chicago.
