Getting your player ready...

“It all starts up front.”

You knew that clichè was coming, this one courtesy of Brandon Stokley. Stuff happens when your offensive line is dominating people.

The Broncos’ line is a group ahead of its time. When you have a rookie left tackle and a virtual rookie right tackle, your quarterback is supposed to get hit now and then. Not Jay Cutler. He wasn’t touched at Oakland and barely attracted a grass stain vs. San Diego.

The first-string offensive line didn’t allow a sack in the preseason and shut out the Raiders in the opener. And the Chargers? They would have been shout out, too, if not for a technicality.

Cutler’s fumble that wasn’t, courtesy of referee Ed Hochuli, counted as a sack even though Cutler wasn’t hit on the play.

It isn’t just the line, though. Cutler in his third NFL season is showing amazing poise and a great feel for when the rush is coming. And the rest of his game isn’t too bad, either.

Stokley is right. It all starts up front. And more often than not, it has been ending with a Broncos touchdown.
